New York Yankees: Judge added to Bombers long list of injured players
New York Yankees star Aaron Judge has been placed on the 10-Day IL, following an oblique injury he suffered on Saturday afternoon.
The New York Yankees injury plague has reached their biggest star, Aaron Judge. In the same game he hit a home run, Judge went down with an oblique injury. Although he is only on the 10-Day injured list, the injury has been dubbed ‘pretty significant.’
What this means is pretty vague, but it likely means that Judge will be out more than 10 days, but the Yankees placed him on the 10-Day IL in hopes that he will be back shortly.
In the meantime, while Judge is out the Yankees have called up Thairo Estrada to take his spot on the roster. As for who the Yankees will play in right field, remains a question. On Easter Sunday the Yankees went with Clint Frazier in right field as they slid Brett Gardner over to center and put Mike Tauchman in left field.
Aaron Judge joins the Yankees long list of injured players that includes Miguel Andujar, Dellin Betances, Greg Bird, Jacoby Ellsbury, Didi Gregorius, Aaron Hicks, Ben Heller, Jordan Montgomery, Gary Sanchez, Luis Severino, Giancarlo Stanton, and Troy Tulowitzki.
The Yankees have yet to play a single game this season at full strength and it doesn’t appear they will play one at full strength any time soon seeing they currently have 13 players on the injured list.
The New York Yankees current roster has a lot of players on it that many Yankees fans don’t even recognize. Here is the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Royals:
- DJ Lemahieu
- Luke Voit
- Brett Gardner
- Clint Frazier
- Mike Tauchman
- Gio Urshela
- Mike Ford
- Austin Romine
- Tyler Wade
Luckily, this lineup won’t last for long as both Giancarlo Stanton and Gary Sanchez will likely be back before the end of the month. Sanchez is expected back this week as he is set to play in a rehab game on April 22nd and Giancarlo Stanton hit against a pitching machine on April 19th.
After that Bronx Bombers fans can look forward to Miguel Andujar, Greg Bird, Aaron Hicks, and Troy Tulowitzki likely coming back at some point in May. The status of Aaron Judge, however, beyond the fact that he is currently on the 10-Day IL is still yet to be known.
Expect the Yankees to struggle quite a bit in the absence of Judge but the good news is it might be over sooner than you think.
