New York Giants selection with the 17th overall pick – Roundtable
By Ed Stein
Drew Lock
Jaymin Bernhardt, Empire Writes Back
Drew Lock the quarterback from Missouri. The Giants need themselves a quarterback. Everyone is getting tired of Manning and outside of Kyler Murray, Lock is probably the second-best quarterback in the draft, stats wise.
He is predicted to go earlier than 17th but look for the Giants to make a trade to possibly draft up and get him. Lock should be worth the trade. He had himself an incredible year in his senior season where he experienced career highs in most categories. Most importantly, he had 28 passing touchdowns and six more on the ground.
His completion percentage was 62.9% which is decent. The best thing about Lock is that he was consistent over his career. He was over 3000 passing yards every year except for his freshman season and had over 20 touchdown passes during that time as well which includes having 44 in his Junior year. He will be the quarterback of the future for a team and fan base that has had almost seen and heard enough about Eli Manning.
Daniel Jones
Brooks Austin, NFL Mocks
Dave Gettleman just looks like the guy that thinks Daniel Jones is a first-round talent. And look, I don’t mean that as a shot at Daniel Jones. I think he has a chance to be a good starter in the league IF he is surrounded by playoff caliber talent around him, but you don’t take the guy that “has a shot to one day be okay” in the first round. Unless you think he’s going to be great, and we have all heard it enough Daniel Jones to the Giants in the first round better start settling in. Cause it’s happening.
