Round One – 6th overall pick

It seems as though Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins is gaining a bit of steam. He went from six of 18 hits in our first compilation to eight of 21 this time around. Rashan Gary, defensive end from Michigan picked up some support as well, going from four-of-18 to six-of-21. Finishing in third with two hits again is Mississippi State defensive end Montez Sweat. This time however he is tied with Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.

If Williams is still around when the New York Giants select at six it means three things. First, someone traded up for a quarterback. Second, Tampa Bay is crazy to let Williams get past them with the fifth overall picks. Finally, Big Blue Nation should be ecstatic and thanking the football gods to get a player of Williams quality. He is the highest rated interior defensive lineman Pro Football Focus has had since they started grading five years ago.

Charley Casserly of NFL.com had an interesting take. He had the Giants taking Williams sixth and then trading up a few spots to get Haskins at 13. We profiled Haskins earlier in the week. Last time around we also gave you thumbnails of Gary and Sweat. What Casserly is proposing would be almost a dream scenario. Almost, because I still think Josh Rosen is coming to the G-Men.

Florida tackle, Jawaan Taylor once again got a hit. It’s an intriguing idea. The 6-5, 312-pound University of Florida product is an outstanding tackle who can protect the quarterback’s blind side. What makes him special is his run blocking. It’s easy to see Saquon Barkley running behind him and then taking off through a hole.

Other players getting consideration are Duke quarterback Daniel Jones, and inside linebacker Devin White from Michigan State.
