Round Seven: Tommy  Sweeney, TE, Boston College

As we know, this league is a passing league. The teams that do a lot of winning throw the ball a lot. Adding Isabella earlier in the draft will start the Jets headed down that road.

The Jets are set at first tight end with Christopher Herndon. His rookie season set him up as one of Sam Darnold’s top threats in 2019. The longer they played together, the more the chemistry grew. Herndon will be a threat down the seams that opponents need to worry about.

But what about a second tight end? Having two tight ends will make the Jets even tougher to defend. However, does anyone think that Jordan Leggett or Eric Tomlinson are the guys to fill that position? I don’t either.

Next. Tell Robby not to get too cocky. dark

The seventh round is the time to take a shot on somebody. It’s not a big commitment, but if it works out you have a steal. The Jets take this shot on Tommy Sweeney from Boston College.

Sweeney never lit it up at BC. His best year was 36 receptions for 512 yards and four touchdowns. With other weapons, however, Sweeney wouldn’t be asked to do too much. He is an alternative weapon, not a featured weapon.

He can make a play when called upon, which is why Tommy Sweeney is a guy worth taking a shot on in round number seven.
