Round One: Quinnen  Williams, DT, Alabama

More from Empire Writes Back

I know that, among others, my friend Scott Mason will be thrilled if this is the scenario that plays out.

After Kyler Murray went to the Cardinals and Nick Bosa went to the 49ers, Williams had to be the choice for us at number three.

We did our detailed preview of Williams just a few days ago, check it out by clicking here.

The talent is undeniable. The man they call “Q” can take over a game all by himself. Just look at any of his tape. He’s that good.

Williams just seems like a Jets pick. This movie has been on the air before. They have taken their interior defensive linemen in our day, haven’t they?

Some of you are sick of hearing it, but picking a guy on the inside can work. Think about it.

It’s a shorter distance to the quarterback through the interior than around the edge. There is just less real estate between the defender and the quarterback.

Think about all of the times the Jets have had success against the Patriots. How have they done it? They have gotten pressure in Tom Brady‘s face from the interior.

Put Williams next to Leonard Williams and some damage will happen to opposing quarterbacks.

He needs a bit more bulk to be big enough to play the 3-4, but that’s it. This is a great pick here.
