Yes I understand, it is very early to say a guy who was traded to the New York Giants this past offseason is the most important defensive player on this team, but if you look deeper in he could be an important key.

Jabrill Peppers has gradually improved over his two years in Cleveland. So far, in his career, he has two interceptions, one sack, and 136 combined tackles. Now coming over to New York, the Giants will have bigger expectations for the Michigan alumni. The Giants defense is without a top name guy after an almost certain rebuild in the near future, which is now the perfect opportunity for Peppers to step up and become that X factor.

With Peppers being so young (23-years-old) and having such a high ceiling might make him the driving force in this rebuild. Pairing him with newly signed Antoine Bethea in the defensive backfield could be an advantage for Peppers. The veteran presence will be key for him to properly develop and become a leader for the team. Peppers can also be a threat on the punt return, with 55 punt returns totaling out to 399 yards in his first two years.

The East Orange, NJ native will have much to prove to the G-Men and Big Blue Nation. He will also have nothing but time to develop into a key piece on this Giants defense.
