Andrea Bargnani

Coming into the league, Andrea Bargnani was drawing comparisons to Dirk Nowitzki, but that was the narrative back then if you were a European player that could even muster up a three. Don’t get me wrong, the big man from Italy was a great player when he was in Toronto, but injuries messed up a lot of great windows of opportunity for him.

This never changed during his time with the Knicks.

Bargs played 71 games in two seasons while wearing a Knickerbocker uniform and you could argue that he was worth his trade value when he was actually able to stay on the court. Nearly 14 points and Five rebounds were what the Italian added to the Knicks while healthy, and he could’ve been a solid contributor for them in the long run. He was a big that displayed excellent court vision and was a threat to stretch the floor, but his injury-riddled career and inconsistencies saw him out of favor pretty quickly.

He never panned out to what Phil Jackson and crew hoped he would be. The third option behind Anthony and Tyson Chandler to help them get through the Eastern Conference, so they let him walk in free agency, but his time in New York when healthy shouldn’t be overlooked.
