New York Knicks: 3 players to watch in the this year’s Final Four
By Kyle Morello
F Jarrett Culver, Texas Tech University
While Virginia and Michigan State are arguably the best two teams remaining, the best player in the Final Four is Texas Tech’s Jarrett Culver.
Even though Michigan State’s Cassius Winston was named an AP first team All-American, Culver easily has the most NBA upside and was also named a second team All-American.
The 6’5”’ forward is averaging 18.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in 36 games for the Red Raiders this year. He also shoots 47.6% from the field and 31.6% from three.
While he hasn’t had the best season from range this year, he did shoot 38.2% from three last season as a freshman. Even if he isn’t the absolute best marksman from beyond the arc, he can still score with the best of them.
Culver is a defensive anchor for the best defensive team in the country, which is also impressive in its own right. Just like the other two players on this list, he can guard multiple positions well and his versatility is one of his main assets.
Culver has led this Texas Tech team to the first Final Four in its history, and has been the best player on the floor in most of the Red Raiders matchups.
He is projected to go in the top 5 of this year’s draft, which would be perfect if the Knicks happened to fall out of the top few spots. He can score and defend, which again is something the Knicks need.
While there isn’t anyone projected to be a top overall pick in this year’s Final Four, there clearly will be a lot of talent on display in Minneapolis the Knicks should be looking out for.
