New York Knicks: 3 players to watch in the this year’s Final Four
By Kyle Morello
F DeAndre Hunter, University of Virginia.
The University if Virginia is back in the Final Four for the first time since 1984, and a big reason why is because of Redshirt Sophomore forward De’Andre Hunter.
Hunter had a huge season for the Virginia Cavaliers this year, averaging 14.9 points and 5 rebounds per game in 36 games this year, starting all of them after being Virginia’s sixth man a year ago.
He’s shooting 51.8% from the floor and an impressive 42.4% from three point range.
While Hunter is proving himself to be a true offensive threat, it’s his defense that he is most known for.
Hunter was named the NABC Defensive Player of the Year. More impressively, he was also recognized as a consensus 3rd team All-American for his efforts this year.
He’s projected to be a letter pick in this year’s NBA Draft if he leaves Virginia, and he would be a perfect fit for the Knicks in my opinion.
The Knicks are in dire need of two things: defenders and shooters.
Hunter can shoot the ball very efficiently, especially from three, which is something that no player on the Knicks current roster can do very well.
He is also a stingy defender and can guard multiple positions, and the Knicks could use that kind of versatility in their lineup.
While he isn’t an absolute top-flight player, I would be absolutely fine with the Knicks taking him in the first round this year if they don’t have one of the top picks in the draft.
