New York Giants: Full Mock Draft-filling the roster with the best talent
Tyree Jackson, quarterback, University of Buffalo
Tyree Jackson coming out of the Buffalo, won’t have to travel far from where he played college ball. Standing in at 6’7 245 lbs, Jackson brings with him the size that Gettleman once talked about wanting in all his Quarterbacks.
Jackson brings with him a cannon of an arm, sneaky fast speed running a 4.59 at the combine and better than expected agility running a 4.28 shuttle time per NFL.com. Jackson led the Bulls to a Mac Championship appearance and in the first half could do no wrong.
Jackson has all the tools to be an outstanding Quarterback in the league, I do believe he could ave benefited from one more year in college maybe transferring to a power 5 school to showcase his talent against other top talents.
However, with him coming out early he would have a chance to sit and learn for a year in an NFL program and Challenge for a spot against the Quarterback the Giants choose draft next year.
I know this pick hurts Giants fans because he wasn’t a first round Quarterback, but it’s not about where your draft it’s about what you do once you get there. If you don’t believe me ask Kirk Cousins what NFL training and the right opportunity did for his career… Never sleep on hungry, young talent.
With the 132 pick the Giants draft Anthony Johnson University of Buffalo
Anthony Johnson was the leading receiver at the University of Buffalo his ability to go high point the ball at 6’2 207 lbs, was outstanding. He used great body position to fight off would be corners, and kept Tyree Jackson safe when receiving the hard tossed slant.
Johnson showed soft hands, and big catch area. He not only helped his own developed but multiple times towards the end of the Bulls season he showed grit and toughness to be out on the field fighting through pain to aid his team.
Johnson would not only be a familiar face with the Giants drafting Tyree but he would be an excellent depth receiver to groom for the outside position at the X or Z. Though the Giants may not care about position titles anymore, tall strong handed receivers are always welcomed by every Quarterback.
