The NFL draft is rapidly approaching. The New York Jets are open for business to trade down, per the general manager. Here are 3 reasons they should.

As the NFL draft draws close by the day, the New York Jets are “open for business“. What does that mean? It means that they are ready and willing to field offers for the number three overall pick in the upcoming draft.

What a difference a year makes, am I right? One year ago the Jets needed the third overall pick so they could select a quarterback, who ended up being Sam Darnold, of course. Now, the Jets don’t have that type of specified need so they are willing to move down.

Now, the entire fan base isn’t on board with moving down, and they have legitimate reasons for wanting to stay at three. Fans see the opportunity to settle the edge rusher problem. With Kyler Murray a good shot to go number one, they will likely have either Nick Bosa or Josh Allen available.

It’s hard to blame that faction of fans for wanting to stay where they are and wait to make that choice.

Other fans are right on board with Mike Maccagnan’s thinking on this issue and hope that they get the right opportunity and trade back for more picks. Fans see the opportunity to build a stronger foundation with this team by acquiring more draft choices. More choices equals more potential roster members.

Today we are going to talk about the concept of trading back, and why it just may be the right idea for the 2019 draft. Specifically, we are going through three sensible reasons that the Jets should trade back.
