Round Two – 37th overall pick

Here’s where it gets tricky. Most mock drafts only cover the first round, so there aren’t many people covering the draft that deep. Among the players listed are CB Rock Ya-Sin – Temple, edge rusher Chase Winovich – Michigan, CB Justin Layne – Michigan State, and C Erik McCoy – Texas A&M.

Three of the mocks had them using the 37th overall pick to aid them in their quarterback pursuit. One drafter had the Giants using their second-round pick to trade up in the first round for Haskins. Another had them packaging their second and third rounders to trade up into the end of the first round to pick Jones. The final had them sending the pick to Arizona for Josh Rosen.

The first idea is very far fetched. Trading up three spots for Haskins isn’t worth a second rounder. The final idea, trading for Rosen, checks off plenty of boxes for the Giants. Additionally, selecting a defensive back with the pick is appealing. Big Blue is very thin in the secondary, a high round draft pick could greatly help.

Round Three- 95th overall pick

All five of the mock drafts that went as far as the third round had the Giants going defense with the 95th overall draft pick. One of the more intriguing options was cornerback David Long from Michigan. A bit undersized at 5-11, he is a good cover man and earned All-Big 10 honors.
