We have hit the month of April, New York Jets fans. Why should you care? Because that means the NFL draft will be here at a moment’s notice. It will get here at the snap of our fingers.
Free agency, for the most part, is over. There may be a signing here or there, maybe even a trade, but the major part of the period is over. The likelihood of a major move between now and the draft is slim.
It’s time to prepare for the NFL Draft. Visits are underway, as are pro days, private workouts and all kinds of research. The next generation of NFL stars are preparing to make their mark on the league, and the general managers are deciding which are most right for their team.
What are we to do while all of this is going on? How to we get through the time until Roger Goodell opens the draft?
We speculate, of course. Speculating draft style, as usual, means a mock draft.
When the draft began, it was a closed-door meeting that nobody knew about until it was over. Now it posts TV ratings that are ahead of live sporting events. That is why we take the time to speculate about it.
