New York Knicks: 5 players that should be re-signed this summer
By Alan Mena
The New York Knicks are on pace to have their worst season in franchise history. Despite the yearly struggle, they do have some promising young talent for the future.
New York Knicks Head Coach David Fizdale has undoubtedly had his most difficult year yet in his 3rd season as a head coach in the NBA. From dealing with various injuries, the youngest roster in the league, and being unable to even coach Kristaps Porzingis in an actual game, it is fair to say that this failed season is not entirely his fault.
However, the Knicks have their biggest offseason yet as they have the cap room to sign two max contracts. In order to secure or have a decent chance at signing notable free agents this summer, the Knicks should definitely consider keeping these five players who are set to hit the free agency market this offseason.
We will dive right in, and start with a Knicks player who is emerging as a player with a lot of potential.
Emmanuel Mudiay
Emmanuel Mudiay is easily having the best season of his career since being traded from the Denver Nuggets last season at the trade deadline. Although he has yet to play more than 68 games in a season due to his injury proneness, he has mainly shown flashes of his improved scoring ability this year.
Still just 23-years-old, Mudiay is leading the Knicks in points, assists, and FG%. So far this season he has produced a career high 14.7 points, 3.8 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and also a career-best 45.5% field goal percentage.
Mudiay will be a key role player for years to come as he will surely continue to improve all aspects of his game.
