New York Mets: Three realistic goals for Brandon Nimmo in 2019
Make first all-star team.
I would like to imagine that every baseball player has two goals once they finally make the big leagues. One is to win a World Series Championship and the other one is to make an all-star team. Well for this 2019 goal, I think Brandon Nimmo could do just that.
The new all-star voting shouldn’t impact the Mets that much. I would imagine we see at least Jacob deGrom make the all-star team. Maybe Noah Syndergaard and Conforto again too. However, Brandon Nimmo could welcome himself to that party.
Had the Mets stayed hot and been a contending team last July, I think they would have had more than one all-star. Same can be traced back to two years ago when it was just Conforto who made it as the Mets rep.
However, a major storyline surrounding the Mets this season is how many budding stars they have ready to breakout/reemerge. Nimmo, Conforto, Rosario, Noah Syndergaard, Robinson Cano, Zack Wheeler, really everyone is ready.
However, there is a solid chance it is Nimmo who ends up emerging from the group to make his first all-star game. He likely will not go alone for the Mets, but if all goes well we could see him going to Cleveland in the middle of July with some of the leagues best.
Nimmo could end up being a hitting, run scoring machine on a great Mets team. At least that is the ideal scenario. That should be solid enough to garner the attention and get this man into his first MLB All-Star game. He is simply too good a player to go all his career without making one. Why not start this year?
