New York Mets: Three realistic goals for Brandon Nimmo in 2019
Play over 150 games
This is surely one of the easier goals for Brandon Nimmo to hit this season. Last season, he played in 140 games and really stayed healthy when he was out there. Nimmo was able to finally stretch out playing pretty much a full season. He played in games for every month from September to August. His only real injury came at the end of the year last year when he hurt his hamstring in the final series vs the Marlins.
Nimmo has not proven he is injury prone and when he is on the big league team, he has proven to be reliable. If Nimmo can meet this goal, which there is really no reason he won’t be getting his reps in the outfield every day the Mets will be better off, they need him out there.
Health is going to be a number one thing with the Mets again. If him, Conforto, Rosario, and the pitching staff can all stay healthy, we will see what the Mets did towards the end of the 2018 more in 2019 and less than the middle.
The Mets, overall, improved this offseason and they need Nimmo to be part of that improvement. He is their best option and if he leads off on Opening Day, which it seems like he will be, he will be a perfect staple of the Mets’ lineup.
If he plays 150 games or more, he could be in for a solid 160-165 hit season and really start emerging a star in this league. That starts by staying on the field like he has been.
