Round Four: Deebo  Samuel, WR, South Carolina

Between the Kelechi Osemele trade and now two draft picks, the Jets have added three offensive lineman to protect Darnold.

Now, we need to give him a toy to play with. That toy comes in the form of Deebo Samuel from South Carolina.

He fits right in as a good pick on day three. The man has speed, with a 4.48 forty yard dash. It’s not elite speed but it’s solid.

As a senior, Samuel posted 62 receptions, 882 yards and 11 touchdowns. He’s only 5-10 which might make him out-of-place on the outside, but he could be a help to a team in the slot.

Samuel also has experience as a returner which would make him appealing to the Jets. After letting Andre Roberts walk, the position is open. Samuel could be a competitor to return kicks if he were to get the call from Maccagnan.

The biggest question will be whether or not Deebo can stay healthy. He has had hamstring troubles in the past which would hamper a player in a speed position. 2018 was his only healthy college season.

It’s worth the risk. He’s not likely to be any worse than ArDarius Stewart. Same goes for a comparison to Chad Hansen.
