Round Three, Pick Four: Garrett  Bradbury, C, North Carolina St.

More from Empire Writes Back

This choice was a no-brainer…to me. Maybe it would be to some of you as well.

Center is a position of major need for the team, and to date it has not been addressed. Matt Paradis and Mitch Morse have signed elsewhere.

They have also done so without much interest from Maccagnan and the Jets. Why?

Well, they could be looking at Josh Sitton to come in and play center though he hasn’t done it much.

Or, they could have their eyes on Garrett Bradbury from North Carolina St. Connor Rodgers, draft expert for Bleacher Report has a day one grade on him.

His footwork is something that jumps off of his tape. Bradbury’s feet are never out of position and he keeps a good center in pass protection.

Bradbury boasts arms that are nearly 32 inches long. That will give him ample opportunity to beat an oncoming pass rusher to the punch. If he makes first contact he can redirect that pass rusher and keep some guy named Sam Darnold safe.

According to the Pro Football Focus draft guide, Bradbury’s grades peaked across the board in his final season, including an 84.6 in pass protection.

This is the type of blocker we want around Darnold. Protect the investment with this steal in the third round.
