The New York Islanders have played 72 games this season meaning they only have 10 left. Sitting tied atop the Metro Division with 91 points and likely poised for the playoffs, these last 10 games are ultra important.

The New York Islanders have 91 points and already have more wins this season than they did last year. The best part is, there are still 10 games left on the season. The Isles are all but officially in the playoffs. While nothing is guaranteed, they are likely going to be a playoff team. The last 10 games, however, are arguably the most important. The Isles can lose home ice or win the division, a tale of two extremes.

The Isles are not playing their best stretch of hockey over the last 10 games or so, but are still banking points and finding ways to win. Most of that in spite of many injuries and a putrid power play.

Yet, here they are. The Islanders need to just chug along and stay in playoff form as the season is set to end in just 10 games, then, it becomes all about the playoffs. The playoffs they will get to play in Nassau Coliseum to start it off.

Having home ice in that first round is even more important when you consider that round will indeed be played in the Nassau Coliseum. The Islanders need to stay in at least the top two to ensure that.

So, aside from trying to ensure home ice in at least the first round, what are some other things the Islanders need to focus on/what we should watch for in the last 10 games? The are arguably a million things, but here are what the top things are, in my opinion.
