The New York Giants quest for a newer, younger quarterback took a hit Wednesday with the Ryan Tannehill trade. On Wednesday. the Dolphins traded Tannehill to the Titans, which does impact the Giants.

It’s no secret that the New York Giants need a new quarterback, not necessarily for this upcoming season, but maybe for next year, and Ryan Tannehill just left a team who could now intercept one of Big Blue’s targets..

With this in mind, the potential trade for Josh Rosen is something that has been talked about quite a bit lately.

However, that potential trade took a major hit on Friday as the Miami Dolphins traded Ryan Tannehill to the Tennessee Titans. Now, a minuscule trade that shouldn’t mean anything for anyone beyond the Dolphins and Titans right?

Wrong. The trade of Tannehill means the Dolphins two quarterbacks on their roster are now Jake Rudock and Luke Falk. Rudock has only five career pass attempts in the NFL while Falk doesn’t have a single one.

This means that the Dolphins will without a doubt either sign a free agent quarterback, draft a quarterback, or trade for a quarterback. The biggest name free agent quarterback is currently AJ McCarron who was cut by the Raiders on Thursday.

McCarron has some serious potential but we have never seen him get a serious shot in the NFL. He has appeared in 13 games over his five year career, starting in only three of them.

Those three he started in were with the Bengals when Andy Dalton got injured back in 2015. He threw for 854 yards, six touchdowns and only two interceptions in 2015, which made many think he could really play in the NFL should he be given a shot.

Over the next three years, he only appeared in six games and didn’t start in one. Why does this matter you ask? Well this matters because he could be a serious option for the Dolphins, or they could decide to go through the draft or trade for Josh Rosen.

Whatever direction they choose to go in, it will likely impact the Giants in one way or another.

The Dolphins currently have the 13th overall pick in this year’s draft and since Kyler Murray and Dwayne Haskins will more than likely both be taken before then, they are likely left with Drew Lock and Daniel Jones.

Two great quarterbacks but maybe not quite what the Dolphins are looking for. This means they could potentially trade into the top five in hopes of taking Dwayne Haskins away from the Giants.

One way or another, it is very likely that the Dolphins trade of Ryan Tannehill could impact the New York Giants. Whether it be through the draft or through a trade for Josh Rosen, the Dolphins are definitely a team to keep your eye on in the coming weeks.
