On the second day of legal tampering, we look at the Le’Veon  Bell situation and where the New York Jets stand one day before free agency officially starts.

New York Jets fans, we are in day two of the legal tampering period and one day away from the free agent period officially beginning. We talked about the guys that have agreed to terms last night, but there is a certain running back we need to talk about.

Let’s get right into what we know about the Le’Veon Bell situation.

As of this morning he is still without a team. The news became very interesting throughout the day on Monday. Manish Mehta of the Daily News reported that the team is divided on whether or not to go all out after Bell.

According to Mehta, some are concerned that they might get used the way Kirk Cousins used them last season. They are also concerned about mileage on the tires, if Mehta’s sources are accurate.

With other info that came out later in the day, we could wonder where the Jets really are with this.

Several hours later, a source told Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio that the Jets aren’t divided at all on Bell.

That source strongly disagreed with the previous report published by Mehta. However, the report doesn’t indicate how they feel about him.

In other words they could be unified in not signing him.

According to multiple sources, the Jets are still the favorites to land Bell. Ian Rapoport believes the Jets are the leaders in the clubhouse while the Ravens go after Mark Ingram.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN also believes that the Jets are the clear favorites (via Evan Silva).

Teams that weren’t expected into the mix that now are include the Raiders and the Bears.

So I guess the most accurate comment we can make is that we don’t really know where the Jets stand at this point. More clarity should come as the day progresses today.
