More from Empire Writes Back

Fowler is one of three guys that was lined to the Jets by Rich Cimini of ESPN during the recent NFL Combine.

Fowler has been associated with the Jets various times over the recent years. After three years, it’s a bit difficult to explain why.

Fowler entered the league with a lot of promise. He was the third overall pick for the Jaguars back in 2015.

In the 2015 mini camp, Fowler tore his ACL, and he has never since come to the form he was expected to show.

His best year came in 2017 when he posted eight sacks. In the year preceding and the year following, however, he posted eight sacks total, four in each season.

That includes two sacks in the final eight games of last season. Why is that significant? They were played for the Los Angeles Rams.

If such a highly touted pass rusher can’t produce more than two sacks in eight games playing with Aaron Donald, when is he going to produce?

The Jets may go hard after this young man and land him. He’s just not the choice that is likely to perform as well as many would have hoped.
