With the major pass rushers off the free agent market, we evaluate some of the biggest pass rushers left that the New York Jets might show interest in.

The legal tampering period begins on Monday and free agency starts officially on Wednesday. The most exciting time of year for New York Jets fans is upon us. We are 0-0 and it’s time to remake the roster one more time.

Will the Jets be able to finally take care of the edge rusher position? That was everyone’s hope when the off-season began. The names of the prospective free agents were some of the biggest in the sport.

But then, the tagging period began and one by one they went away. We talked about it earlier in the week. The big names are gone. Demarcus Lawrence, Grady Jarrett (defensive tackle), Jadeveon Clowney and all the rest. Off the board.

Now, the Jets could leave this position to the draft. With the potential of Kyler Murray going first in the draft, there is a real shot of Nick Bosa dropping to number three, or Josh Allen at the very least.

The 49ers are reportedly interested in trading for recently tagged Dee Ford. If that move occurs the chance at Bosa becomes very real. If this group of edge rushers is as good as advertised the Jets could find this player early in the upcoming draft.

Looking at the remaining crop of free agent edge rushers leaves a lot to be desired. There are names that the Jets have been associated with and we are going to evaluate them in the coming pages.

Overall, there will be one thing that becomes abundantly clear as we look at this group. It’s not a very high quality group. There are a lot of risks here. Whether it is due to age or underperformance, there are no sure things in this group of players.

In the coming pages you will see reasons for the Jets to wait until the draft, for the most part. Let’s look at these names that the Jets are associated with, and in one or two cases, should be associated with.
