Monday: Trayvon Mullen, Cornerback

An underrated position of need for the Jets is the cornerback spot. Trumaine Johnson is back but we don’t know if he will have a good year. It was certainly rough at times to watch him this past year.

Morris Claiborne may or may not be back. Buster Skrine will likely not be back. Parry Nickerson is here but last year he was not ready to contribute much. Who knows if he will take that next step in 2019 and fill that slot corner position?

Behind those named players are a whole lot of question marks. The position needs an upgrade.

Next. Jets mock with a twist. dark

One guy I will be watching is Trayvon Mullen. At 6-2 he stands at a good height to compete with NFL wide receivers. 190 pounds is a little small but adding weight is something very feasible for an NFL prospect.

We know that Gregg Williams is an aggressive defensive coordinator. He likes to attack rather than react.

Guys that feel comfortable getting their hands on a receiver will do well, and Mullen is highly regarded in that area. He will be able to defend on the outside while Williams sends his rushers after the quarterback.

Will the Jets have a shot at this guy? It’s hard to say. But if they have a shot this might be a guy worth looking at. Let’s see how he tests on the final day of the Combine.
