Round Three, Pick 29: Christian  Miller, OLB, Alabama

So I made the Alabama Jets over the first two days of the draft. At least it’s a school that traditionally graduates players that get to the NFL.

But seriously, thought was given to looking at a cornerback at this spot. However the board didn’t really leave anyone that jumped off the page. Nobody left seemed to have the ball skills I was looking for so I went back to the well for a player off the edge.

Christian Miller is another player that made the jump in his senior year. The previous season he posted just one sack, but as a senior that number jumped up to eight. On paper, that’s a number that would help at the next level.

Next. Three internal free agents the Jets can easily let go. dark

The versatility stands out, as he saw work standing up as well as putting a hand in the dirt. Versatility will always translate into value in the NFL. Just have a look at the guy for a minute:

There is absolutely talent on this tape. His pursuit is relentless. Too many of these players take snaps off, especially when the ball isn’t coming directly at them. Not Miller. Miller has a motor that simply doesn’t quit.

His moves are raw. He has some pass rush moves, but needs to be more consistent. But as a late day two player, Christian Miller makes a lot of sense. He can add value to the defense at this position.
