New York Rangers goalie Henrik  Lundqvist posts 43 saves, silencing all of his doubters in a 2-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night.

For any New York Rangers fans out there that have begun to doubt how much Henrik Lundqvist has left, I hope they were watching Tuesday night’s game against the Hurricanes. It was one heck of a show.

109. Final. 2. 95. 1

There are several points we could discuss in this one. We could talk about the Rangers’ faceoff wins that kept them in the game early.

We could also highlight the third period goal by Vladislav Namestnikov that put the Rangers ahead and marked his third goal in three games. Namestnikov has played well of late.

But that wasn’t the story of the night. After watching the last two while Alexandar Georgiev in the nets, Lundqvist was back on the ice on Tuesday night.

Simply put, he was tremendous. How tremendous was he, you ask? 43 saves tremendous, that’s how tremendous.

There have been times as of late when fans have stated they can’t wait for Lundqvist to be gone. We have talked about that silliness in the past but it’s relevant here.

On Tuesday night, however, it was vintage Lundqvist. He was all over the ice, stopping pucks like a goalie ten years his junior.

Hank may be 36 years old, but he didn’t look like it in Carolina. Not on this night. He earned the first star of the game in enemy territory with good reason.

As mentioned earlier, he stopped 43 shots on the game. 18 of them came in the final period, including a barrage of shots from everywhere during the final ten minutes of regulation. The game was punctuated inside of two minutes remaining by this:

Does that look like a goalie that needs to hang up his skates? Does that look like a goalie who has nothing left? Very much to the contrary. Henrik Lundqvist looked like a guy that could still very much get the job done.

As I have said in the past, Lundqvist can still get the job done. If the team does its job, the King can do his. Just let him be.

Next. Three potential destinations for Hayes. dark

Long live the king, ladies and gentlemen. He may not be in his twenties anymore, but that doesn’t mean that Henrik Lundqvist is finished. It’s very much to the contrary. Lundqvist can absolutely still get the job done.

If you have any doubts, check out the highlights from Tuesday night. You will see all of the proof you need. Get it right around him and the King will be just fine. Let him do his job.
