The New York Giants are coming off a disappointing 5-11 season in 2018. A trade for Antonio  Brown help them make the playoffs in 2019.

It’s now been seven years since the last time the New York Giants have won a playoff game.

Despite the fact that they made the playoffs in 2015, the team has been largely unsuccessful since they hoisted up the Lombardi Trophy after winning Super Bowl XLVI.

While they have some pieces in place to make a run next year, they will still need help if they want to return to the postseason.

Which is why the Giants should trade for disgruntled Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown.

Sounds crazy, right?

I mean they already have a drama-producing wide receiver in Odell Beckham Jr, so why do they need another?

Now granted, I personally think the drama surrounding Beckham Jr. is overblown and isn’t actually a problem to begin with. But that’s a story for another day.

The downfall of the Brown with the Steelers has been well documented. This led to him publicly request a trade from the team last week.

Many people view both Brown and Beckham Jr. as two of the top five receivers in football. So why not pair that kind of talent together?

The possibilities of those two sharing the field are endless.

What happens if teams try to cover the faster, taller player in Beckham Jr? That’s fine, then Brown and his excellent ball skills will be in one on one coverage against an inferior defensive back.

The same goes for if teams wanted to double cover Brown. The speed and athleticism would be a huge mismatch for whoever lined up against Beckham Jr. in single coverage.

Opposing teams would have to scheme their entire defensive game plan around how to slow down both receivers. Because lets face it, you can’t stop either one altogether, you can only hope to contain them.

Do the Giants need a competent quarterback to be able to throw to them? Of course, and Eli Manning isn’t that right now.

The Giants obviously need to upgrade the position this offseason. That would go a long way in making this whole thing work.

Next. Giants UFA's on offense. dark

Keep in mind, the Giants also have reigning offensive rookie of the year Saquon Barkley, as well as some other solid offensive pieces such as Evan Engram and Sterling Shepard.

The Giants will need to upgrade more than just their offense to be a playoff team in 2019.

Trading for Brown would be a huge start, however, in addition to giving opposing defenses weekly nightmares.
