Round Three, Pick 29: Deebo  Samuel, WR, South Carolina

Here is another pick that is made with the thought of protecting the investment.

Sam Darnold needs weapons. Quincy Enunwa, Robby Anderson and Chris Herndon are not enough. He needs to have a plethora of assets on the outside for him to choose from, four quarters per game for sixteen games.

That’s why when Deebo Samuel was available at the end of the third round I had to jump with both feet and select him.

Samuel stepped up and showed his potential during his senior season with South Carolina. In 2018, he notched 62 catches for 882 yards and 11 touchdowns.

He also can give Andre Roberts a break in the kickoff return game, taking back 23 kickoffs for 570 yards and one touchdown last year. Making a mark on special teams is one way to stick with a franchise and Samuel can do just that.

Next. What the Murray decision means to the Jets. dark

In a 2016 bowl appearance against South Florida, Samuel posted a huge game. He caught 14 passes for 190 yards and a touchdown. Clearly, the big stage doesn’t scare Deebo Samuel and that will serve him well in the big city.

If Deebo Samuel is available in the third round, the Jets should select him and do so quickly. He would be a huge asset for Darnold and the passing game.
