Round One: Nick  Bosa, Ohio State, Edge

More from Empire Writes Back

OK so here was a surprise.

I was able to select Nick Bosa without moving up int the draft. Clelin Ferrell went number one and Josh Allen went number two.

So is this a likely scenario? Of course not. But if it does happen the Jets would dumber than ever not to select the young man from Ohio State.

The Jets search for a pass rusher seemingly has gone on as long as the quarterback search has gone on.

We got the quarterback, now on to the pass rush.

Nick Bosa’s talent speaks for itself. As a sophomore he posted 8.5 sacks in 14 games. Unfortunately his 2018 season was cut short due to injury, but he managed four sacks in three games.

His post-season coming out party came in the 2017 Cotton Bowl against USC. That day Bosa posted 1.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks against our friend Sam Darnold.

There isn’t much that we need to say here. Do the Jets have a great chance to take Nick Bosa at number three? No. But if that chance becomes a reality, he has to be the guy as he was in this scenario. Any other choice would be a huge mistake.
