The New York Knicks are in the midst of one of their worst seasons in franchise history but their fortunes be turning now that Pelicans’ star Anthony Davis has requested a trade.

Imagine a day where you wake up and see or hear the headline “New York Knicks acquire 5 time All-Star forward Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans”. Sounds like a pipe dream, right?

It actually isn’t as far fetched as you may think.

The star forward has requested a trade out of the Big Easy, as the Pelicans are going nowhere and Davis would rather be in a competitive, winning environment.

Which makes the Knicks seem like the worst possible destination for him, considering the teams’ lack of success over the last two decades.

However, the Knicks are going in the right direction.

They currently have the youngest team in the NBA, with some of those young players being key pieces of our future.

And let’s not forget what this years horrendous season will mean come June: A chance at another young, great player that could turn around the franchise’s fortunes.

With that being said, a package to land Davis would almost certainly have to center around either that aforementioned first round pick or Kristaps Porzingis, and I doubt the team would want to give up on The Unicorn just yet.

The Knicks would be getting a proven player and multiple time all-star while the only things they would truly be giving up is potential.

The Knicks need more talent and a true superstar in order to get better and getting a guy like Davis would do so.

So, here’s a potential trade that could bring Anthony Davis to Madison Square Garden.

There’s a lot to digest in the proposed trade, but in my opinion it would be extremely beneficial for both sides.

Let’s start with the Pelicans.
