The New York Red Bulls did not play a single game on Sunday, but still had a heck of a lot to be proud of. The RBNY brand was well represented around the globe.

The New York Red Bulls are coming off a season in which they made the conference finals and won their third Supporters’ Shield ever.

It takes a lot of small things to be successful, and Head Coach Chris Armas would be the first to tell you that, but a major reason for the Red Bulls’ success is talented players.

The Red Bulls almost always have one of the most talented rosters on paper and for a reason the longest playoff streak in New York sports.

But perhaps there were no two players better for the Red Bulls in 2018 than Tyler Adams and Aaron Long.

On Sunday, both of those players made the entire Red Bull fan base proud.

Tyler Adams got a start in a Bundesliga fixture for RB Leipzig. He was a massive part in having the Red Bulls’ sister club win their game on Sunday, in dominant fashion nonetheless.

Adams will perhaps forever be the greatest product to come out of the Red Bulls academy and a true home-grown player.

His seasons with the Red Bulls, well New York’s Red Bulls were nothing short of spectacular as the team’s defense was always solid, which started in his midfield, during his tenure.

Now, he is over in Germany starting matches for arguably the biggest league in the entire world. No one could ever forget his roots to RBNY.

Then, nearly half a world away, in Glendale Arizona, the US Men’s National Team was playing in a match.

That match vs Panama was captained by Red Bulls player and MLS defender of the year Aaron Long.

The United States got the win and the Red Bulls star got to have the honor of wearing the prestigious armband.

Long’s future in Harrison might not live long. It is almost impossible to keep a player of his caliber in their prime in the MLS, but that is for a different day.

On Sunday, there was no reason to not be proud of the Red Bulls and how they develop talent. Soccer is one of the most complicated sports. With so much competition and leagues to choose from, being good starts with developing talent young.

The New York Red Bulls once again showed they know what they are doing in that department. Former New York Red Bull Tyler Adams and current New York Red Bull Long are products of that.

The Red Bulls might not play in the Champions League for a few more weeks, and the MLS Regular season does not start until March, but without even playing they made their supporters proud.

Whether it be in Düsseldorf, Germany or Glendale, Arizona, there are always constant reminders of why the Red Bulls are so easy to support when it’s not playoff season. But, I won’t get into that again.
