New York Giants: Evaluating the Giants quarterback options for 2019
By Alex Jordan
Kyle Lauletta
Lauletta plead guilty to a disorderly persons offense and two tickets for an improper turn and disobeying an officer’s instructions on Tuesday. The charges are from an arrest in October.
The Giants drafted Lauletta as a fourth-round pick. He appeared in just on game, didn’t complete any of the fives passes he threw and had an interception.
Laulettta was fined heavily by the Giants for his October arrest and Dave Gettleman told Jordan Raanan of ESPN that Lauletta is a work in progress.
“He’s a kid. I’m a kid, you’re kids, we make mistakes. None of us are perfect. Hopefully we learn. So to answer your question, Kyle’s a work in progress, just like me.”
Next season, Lauletta may still be with the Giants but with a full offseason of proper training and getting more significant reps, he could end up earning the starting job if the competition is weak.
If Lauletta is with Big Blue, and Eli is too, Lauletta will be the back up because we haven’t seen what he can do and there are better options for Eli Manning’s replacement.
The Giants have a couple of options when it comes to who will be their quarterback next season.
But, I just don’t think Eli Manning with be there. I think Eli will retire or be cut.
That means that the Giants quarterback next season will either be Kyler Murray, Lauletta is some kind of role, or Dwayne Haskins.
But ultimately, I think it will be Murray who will be the Giants next quarterback.
