2016 Dolphins

Year one of the Adam Gase tenure. The Dolphins finish 10-6 and earn a playoff game. They lost, but they did have double-digit wins.

As far as DVOA, the ’16 Dolphins did jump up a bit, but only to 14th. They also “jumped” to 24th in yards per game with 332.8. They moved barely up into the top half of the league in value, and added one whole yard per game.

We can’t take away the fact that he went to the playoffs. Adam Gase brought the team to the playoffs in year one, though Todd Bowles almost did the same thing.

But, are those offensive numbers really exciting anyone? Is that the influence of an offensive guru? Not really.

How is the development of Ryan Tannehill going? Well, he was hurt for a time, only playing 13 games.

In 13 games, Tannehill completed 67% of his passes, and he threw 19 touchdowns vs 12 interceptions.

Good? Sure. Did he move the needle on Tannehill’s growth, however? Not so much. His scoring plays went down, not up.

On to 2017.
