After probing the New York Jets fans, the response is clear. The fan base is clear and united in being unhappy about the hiring of Adam Gase.

We are a couple of days past the big news now. The New York Jets are moving forward with a head coach and his name is Adam Gase. Yep, the former Dolphins coach for the last three years, now we have him to deal with as our head man.

So, there’s that. Out of the entire list that included Mike McCarthy, Matt Rhule, Eric Bienemy and Todd Monken among others, Gase was the choice.

You have read my feelings on this yesterday. My feelings on this started out bad and remain bad as I write this. This, on its face, is the worst choice off of the list and has all the makings of a “Same Old Jets” hire.

Could he be a great coach? Sure, it’s possible. The evidence just doesn’t lead to that conclusion.

But that’s the feeling here. Let’s talk about the fan base. What do the fans think?

Many fans were panning the decision on social media so we decided to take it to a poll on Twitter.

The question was to grade the hire, but with a humorous answer that ended up winning the day.

Take a look:

Now that’s decisive. We gave the option of “LOL” as the grade, and more than 3/4 of the responders answered just that way.

So either we all feel the same way and we just don’t get it, or we all are looking at the same evidence and coming to the same conclusion.

The proof is in the pudding, ladies and gentlemen. One year with ten wins does not make a coach great. Ask Todd Bowles if you want.

Peyton Manning‘s endorsement is essentially useless, and this is coming from a huge Manning fan. He is one of my favorite players of this generation that didn’t play for the Jets.

At 23-25 it was time to make Adam Gase a coordinator once again and give him time to learn. Time away from the head coaching role would have been prudent here.

This has the makings of a disaster of epic, or typical Jets proportions. The fan base sees it and they are making their voices heard loud and clear.

Hopefully he will prove all of us wrong.
