In Barry We Trust

This is another game that does not really seem all too impressive. Yeah, the Senators are a terrible team, but this was a slick move.

The Islanders have been carefully using multiple goalies all season long. Between Thomas Greiss and Robin Lehner, it is really just riding the hot hand and understanding the schedule.

Well on this day, it was the German netminder who got the start, but it was Lehner who finished the contest.

It is probably more the Islanders realizing they were playing the Senators and Mat Barzal scoring three points that sparked them, but once Barry Trotz made the swap, the Islanders took over.

I liked the Barry Trotz hire the second it was announced, I mean who didn’t, but this was a move that needed to be made in this particular game.

But, it was incredibly impressive how the Islanders rallied for him and how they knew their coach was trying to give them a chance to win with some aggressive coaching.

Greiss did not bring it that night and the Islanders rallied that night.

It was huge team win and showed they can handle adversity. One of many like that, but it was really where I knew I liked Barry Trotz and his players did too.
