Isles score a TD in Los Angeles

This is one of those random moments, but it is more or less an entire game that makes the moment.

I remember this game very well. It started late here on the East Coast and it was the night after another game that started late.

I was tired as heck, so I can’t even imagine how the Islanders felt.

Well, as it turns out, the Islanders were ready to go. This was super early on the season. So, at the time no one knew how bad the Kings would end up being and how decent the Islanders would end up playing for the next few months.

So, at the time this was just one of those fun wins in a random game. The Islanders and Kings are not really a rivalry and have not really had a history for decades (thanks for Butch Goring though, Kings)

Every year, this a game you could kind of just circle and watch if you ‘were around’ it was usually never anything all that riveting.

The most interesting part about this game, well, more random than interesting, is that Scott Mayfield has a +5 rating and three points in the contest.

Everyone on the Islanders was clicking, but he had the game of his life that night. If nothing else, it will be some fun trivia one day, but still.

The Islanders dethroned the Kings that night. It was a blast to watch. It might not mean much in context, but some of the best 60 minutes of the season. They never relented.
