The New York Islanders are officially halfway through their 2018-2019 season. Through 41 games, the team has 50 points. The playoffs are to be determined, but there have been awesome moments. Here are some.

The New York Islanders hit the halfway mark on their 2018-2019 campaign. The Islanders have 50 points through those 41 games and have a solid chance at making the playoffs still.

The season has been filled with some downs, but mostly ups. It is rare that we can say that about an Islanders team the last 20 years or so.

With Barry Trotz at the helm, you can tell there is usually more fight and effort out of this team than we have seen under prior regimes.

The team’s defensive tactics have improved drastically and the goaltending is no longer a liability thanks in large part to the recent resurgence of Robin Lehner.

As the season has gone on, we have seen Mathew Barzal pick up right where he left off from his Calder-winning last season.

He got the nod for his first All-Star game, and had a solid point streak going during the second quarter of the season.

This season, the Islanders have played well against the division, well enough on the West Coast swings, and typically great in the Nassau Coliseum where they will be most of the second half.

The first half was filled with 23 wins, 14 losses, and four OT losses. However, there have been some great moments already.

In order to maintain that pace, and perhaps even get to 100 points on the year, they will need to create more magic moments to keep on winning.

So, let’s get right into it. Here are some of the best moments from the first half of the Islanders’ season in no particular order.
