Playing in 150 games again.

Just as quickly as we have all seen Conforto burst onto the scene, we have seen him go. That has been his whole career. Sometimes the fault to his own, sometimes not.

However, that is what makes this goal easier said than done.

Conforto finally almost got a whole season together last year playing in over 150 games. That was by far the most he has played in a season in his career.

He can easily play in over 150 again and the Mets need him out there.

While the Mets still have a guy like Yoenis Cespedes who can come back and carry the team, Conforto is the guy who can get them over the hump.

The Mets are a team who are going to rely heavily on pitching. Jacob deGrom, in 2019, it out to defend his crown of NL Cy Young. Noah Syndergaard is still a freak of nature. Zack Wheeler is good again.

The list goes on.

The Mets also got their bullpen need by trading for Edwin Diaz and bringing back Jeurys Familia.

That is what makes Conforto staying so healthy, so important. It will be his bat, his power surges, his RBIs that put the Mets on the board more often than not.

His defense is valuable too. He needs to work on it to an extent, and the Mets have many players who can play all three outfield positions.

However, a healthy Conforto, who is capable of bringing a power bat, is going to make the Mets’ life easier if he a reliable option filling in where he needs to in the outfield.

For every player, in every sport, in every season, the number one goal starts with staying healthy. You need to be healthy to play. You need to play to be a great player and asset.

However, for a player like Conforto, he needs to once again prove he can be out there. Prove he can stay healthy and his past issues were all a fluke and behind him.

Playing in 150 games or more at an elite rate would do wonders for the Mets and would bring Conforto back to the fan favorite, face of the place type talent we know he can be.
