The New York Giants in 2018

Breakdown

2018 was a very rough, but promising year for the New York Giants.

The New York Giants struggled for the second consecutive year, finishing the season at 5-11.

Even with only five wins, the Giants saw some serious promise for the future in rookie running back Saquon Barkley.

Barkley went for 2,028 total yards from scrimmage with 15 total touchdowns.

Barkley became only the third rookie in NFL history to reach the 2,000 yard mark, joining Eric Dickerson and Edgerrin James.

This being said, Barkley is in some elite company, and if he is doing this with a bad offensive line, imagine what he could do if with a good one.

The Giants 5-11 record in 2018 gives them the sixth overall pick in the 2019 draft.

This pick could help the Giants in the form of someone such as Jonah Williams out of Alabama.

The Giants offensive line in 2018, just like years past, was horrible, and someone like Jonah Williams could be a step in the right direction.

Another position the Giants need help at is quarterback.

While Eli Manning may have a season or two left in him, the Giants need someone beyond those potentially two years.

Someone like maybe Ryan Finley out of NC State should he fall to the second round.

Finley has some serious talent as he threw for 3,789 yards with 24 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 2018.

The Giants should use their sixth overall pick on an offensive lineman such as Jonah Williams and then do whatever they can to take Ryan Finley after that.

An upgraded offensive line would do wonders for the Giants and you would see some serious improvement in Eli Manning’s game and the Giants in general should they fix the line.

Best moment

So what was the Giants top moment of 2018?

The New York Giants top moment in 2018 came in the 2018 NFL Draft when they took running back Saquon Barkley with the second overall pick.

Barkley was fantastic at Penn State in 2017 and he had some serious potential to do the same thing in the NFL.

The Giants saw this and seeing they struggled at the running back position, they went with the back out of Happy Valley.

Barkley went on to be the best player on the Giants and will likely be the 2018 offensive rookie of the year.
