New York Jets in 2018

Breakdown

Like the Brooklyn Nets, and many other teams, 2018 was a rather uneventful year for the New York Jets, but it was also very important.

In 2018, the New York Jets finished at the bottom of the AFC East with a 4-12 record which gives them the third overall pick for the second straight year.

The guy they took with the third overall pick in 2018 showed some serious promise under center this past season.

Although Sam Darnold didn’t have the best stat line with 15 interceptions, he showed flashes of why the Jets took him with the third overall pick.

Darnold threw for 2,865 yards with 17 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

Once again, not the best stat line but it could be a lot worse.

Darnold showed flashes of who he could be and that’s all the Jets need. Darnold has some serious potential and he could help the Jets for the future.

Another player who played fantastic in 2018 was wide receiver Robby Anderson who went for 752 yards on 50 receptions with six touchdowns.

This was great for the Jets as they now know they’ve got a wide receiver for the future to go alongside Sam Darnold.

The one thing we learned, if nothing else from the Jets in 2018, was that their defense needs some major help.

Allowing an average of 27.6 points per game, the Jets had one of the worst defenses in the NFL.

With their third pick you can expect the Jets to take someone such as defensive lineman Ed Oliver out of Houston, or Quinnen Williams out of Alabama should they be available.

Best moment

So what was the Jets top moment of 2018?

Like the Giants, the Jets top moment of 2018 came on April 26th when they took Sam Darnold with the third overall pick.

In a season full of non-exciting moments, April 26th gave the Jets a blueprint and a direction.

April 26th got Jets fans excited for the future, because they had a quarterback of the future.

Darnold was a guy most expected to be picked first overall, but with the Browns taking Baker Mayfield, Darnold fell into the Jets laps at number three and he seemed to be the perfect fit.

Although he helped the Jets to only four wins in 2018, it is about what he can do for the future rather than right now.
