New York Jets

The Jets are entering one of the most important off-seasons in their history. This fact is not in doubt.

Sam Darnold is the quarterback of the future. He showed his potential as the 2018 season came to a close.

He had his growing pains, but he played some fantastic games as well, highlighted in particular by his performance against the Green Bay Packers. To be able to duel right along with Aaron Rodgers was a sight to see and a great sign for the future.

But they have to enhance his talent and help him grow. The team has been notorious for stunting the growth of quarterbacks. Mark Sanchez comes to mind immediately. His weapons were a revolving door as were his offensive coordinators.

Todd Bowles is out the door and a new staff will be coming in. Fans can debate all day about who they want to be the coach. Some want experience, some don’t. Some like the big names, some don’t.

But whatever they decide to do. Whomever they decide to sign. They have to get it right. Find the guy that will help Darnold become a star. That’s it.

New Year’s Resolution: Find the right coach to make Sam Darnold a star.
