New York Giants

Boy, this is going to be a tough one. The Giants have won eight games in two years. That is eight. That is not a typo.

Now, the Giants do have a nice nucleus together. Saquon Barkley is going to be one of the best of all time if this year showed us anything.

But, the Giants have a long way to go. They ended 2018 by blowing a string of late leads vs the Colts and even the Cowboys.

They did end the year, somewhat well. They won four of five during a span in November and December.

However, 5-11 is a terrible record.

So, the Giants could use some new help all over the field. It took Eli Manning a while to get going, the Ereck Flowers fiasco killed the offensive line for the first few weeks of the season.

Some highlight wins here and there like vs the Texans, Redskins, and Bears, but that does not even add up to a quarter of the season.

What I am looking forward to is the Giants and the NFL Draft. For once, and no one is still used to this, the Giants are picking early on in consecutive draft now.

With the loss to the Cowboys, the Giants will pick six in the NFL draft this year. That becomes the resolution.

Yeah, it would be a great story if the Giants could turn back-to-back losing seasons into a playoff run, but that would be asking for a lot.

So, with Saquon Barkley in place, there is really only one thing the Giants need to do this offseason.

They have their guy in place in Saquon. Odell Beckham is not going anywhere. The defense is not great, but not the worst.

Landon Collins needs to be re-signed, but bringing him back is still not the resolution.

You can tell, the last few team I have done, I have stayed clear of generic resolutions. I’ve gone for a lot specific things these teams need to do this year, but for the Giants, it’s been rough.

So, with that, the Giants need a simple goal.

The last regime, messed up draft picks, a lot. Eli Apple and Ereck Flowers, wow, that alone is bad.

This new regime got Saquon Barkley, but that was the obvious choice if they were not interested in a QB.

New Year’s Resolution: Do not mess up another first round draft pick, preferably draft someone to help Saquon be Saquon.
