The New York Jets take on the New England Patriots to finish off the 2018 regular season. Here’s hoping the game is competitive.
The New York Jets put another season in the books this afternoon. The final game of the year is upon us as the team heads up to Foxboro to face Tom Brady and the rest of their “buddies”, the New England Patriots.
After last week’s overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers, the Jets enter the game with a 4-11 record and the potential to very oddly go 5-11 in three straight seasons. It’s also all but definitely the final game for Todd Bowles as head coach.
New England took down the Buffalo Bills last week by the score of 24-12 and enter the game with a 10-5 record. They have captured the AFC East crown for the 10th straight time.

The Jets lost to New England earlier in the year by a 27-13 score at MetLife Stadium.
With a mere four wins in tow, the Jets will be looking to continue the momentum of Sam Darnold‘s solid play.
Last week he played his best game of the season when facing off against Aaron Rodgers. He threw for over 300 yards and led a game-tying drive late in the fourth quarter.
There isn’t much to preview here. It is the final time for guys to put footage on tape. Young guys like we talked about earlier this week will be fun to watch.
In the past we have been able to hold onto the fact that New England has everything locked up and can rest players. That’s not the case in 2018.
They need to win the game to guarantee a first round bye in the playoffs. If they win and get help they can still earn the number one seed. Take a look at all of the final week playoff scenarios by clicking here.
To put it simply, the Patriots will be out for blood on Sunday afternoon. There is a reason why they are 13.5 point favorites.
The Jets have a big hill to climb if they are going to win this one.
Frankly, it would be pretty awesome to see the Jets play spoilers to New England’s bid for a bye next week. Wouldn’t it, friends?
Unfortunately, the likelihood is that the Patriots will be on point in this one. The Jets have enough trouble beating this team on the road, the last time being that playoff game after the 2010 season. Add the fact that there is a lot riding on it and this could be trouble.
So the moral of the story is that we should hope for a competitive game. If they win, it’s icing on the cake since it is the Patriots. But the idea is to pray they don’t slaughter our team up and down the field.
We shall see how it goes.
