New York Daily News writer Manish Mehta believes that the New York Jets can take control of the AFC East away from the New England Patriots. Unfortunately, the Jets won’t take control of the division.

As the New York Jets prepare for their final game of the season against the New England Patriots, there is speculation that Todd Bowles won’t be the Jets head coach after Sunday.

Bowles is signed through 2020 but is expected to be fired on Monday.

Bowles has lost 19 of his last 25 games and has a career record of 24-39.

Even though he’s expected to be fired, Bowles says he’s not thinking about his future. He told reporters, via Rich Cimini of ESPN:

"“Personally, I do not speak about my next job. I worry about tomorrow when Christmas comes, and I worry about New England on Sunday. And I’ll go from there.”"

If Bowles does get fired as expected, then the question is who will become the new head coach of the Jets?

One NFL coach told Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News:

“I would love that job. The Jets are poised to take over that division. Brady’s time is short.”

Mehta agrees with the coach, saying that this is the chance for the Jets to take control of the AFC East away from the Patriots.

He says that with a 21-year old quarterback in Sam Darnold, more than $100 million in salary cap space, and a top three pick in the upcoming draft, the next head coach would be able to deliver a big blow to the Patriots “evil empire.”

However, the Jets won’t be able to take the division away from the Patriots.

The Jets are currently in their third straight losing season, as they are currently 4-11.

They have a franchise quarterback in Sam Darnold, but he still needs to get better. The Jets aren’t even close to taking control of the division.

On the other hand, the Patriots have just won their tenth AFC East title in a row, and 16th since Tom Brady became their starting quarterback.

This season, Brady has thrown for 4,105 yards, with 25 touchdowns, has a 65.4 completion rate, and a 95.4 passer rating and could very well win his sixth Super Bowl title this year.

It is very hard to beat the Patriots, especially with Brady as their quarterback.

Brady is arguably the greatest, or one of the greatest, quarterbacks of all time.

Brady will turn 42 next summer, but he has no plans to retire anytime soon.

Here’s what Brady told Jim Gray of Westwood One Sports, per Peter Botte of the New York Post:

"“I absolutely believe I will. I know I’ve talked about it a long time. I have goals to play not only next year but beyond that. And I’m going to try to do it as best as I possibly can.“I’m going to give it everything I have, like I always have. It will certainly be a challenge. I don’t take any of these things for granted. But I hope I can keep playing. I hope I can keep playing at a championship level.”"

The Jets are nowhere close to being as good as the Patriots are right now.

Brady playing next year and beyond means the Jets have no chance of taking control of the division, not matter how good they might get.

dark. Next. Where do the Jets rank in the latest Power Rankings?

Sorry, Jets fans, but Gang Green won’t be taking control of the AFC East away from the Patriots. Maybe they will after Brady retires but not before then.
