New York Giants: 3 players who need to step up the most in Odell Beckham Jr.’s absence

Saquon Barkley has shattered the 1,000 yard mark as a rookie. He is also going to play in a pro-bowl, a game he will likely never miss.

But, to me, the most impressive thing Barkley has done this season is show his true value. He is already the MVP of the Giants and it is not surprise they need to build around him.

Saquon Barkley has a bad game vs the Titans. That is no secret. It was not his fault, credit to the Titans.

So, let’s move on from that.

Normally, a bad game from Saquon wouldn’t be as much of a burden the Giants as it was on Sunday.

Why?

Odell Beckham was there to be a threat to make big plays and rack up yards.

So, Saquon needs to get back to scoring multiple TDs in a game and taking all the focus away from everybody else.

That is why Saquon is so valuable. When the Giants had no one else last week, they didn’t score. You shut down Saquon, you shut down the Giants.

You shut down Saquon and also don’t have Odell, and you might not even have an NFL offense at that point anymore.

I am not too worried about Saquon he makes football look easy and even another poor game stat wise won’t concern me.

But, what could happen still, what almost he almost needs, is make that one big play. If Saquon can just do that, the whole game could swing.

It is not Saquon’s job to be the player solely responsible for the Giants’ offense, but that is how the cards have aligned.

If Saquon can get back to being Saquon the Giants have a chance to win the football game. That goes for every single week he plays.

So, every Giants needs to step up and stop getting stepped on like so many times this year, but with no Odell it’s the next man up. All three these players need to be that man.
