Evan Engram

Despite the Giants not having any TDs, or points for that matter, last week, Evan Engram had one of the better games of his career.

He had eight catches for 755 yards. That almost matched what he did in the win over the Redskins.

Engram’s best two games this year, the game where he has his most yards, have been the last two weeks.

What is the correlation?

Both of these games were without Odell Beckham.

Engram continues to be one of the most confusing players on the Giants. He can’t seem to stay healthy, he has only played in nine games this season, but when he is on, he is on.

Engram was not in really any kind of jeopardy to lose his job. He still has a big leash because of his potential and draft spot, but he needed to earn the trust of Shurmur and Eli.

He finally has.

It is imperative he steps up again this week vs the Colts. He can be Eli’s go-to passing target and really emerge himself against a great team.

More importantly, he can propel himself as a serious threat for 2019. If he has 70 yards or more again that’ll be three games in a row.

Without Odell, those 70 yards mean even more. Engram is coming up big for the Giants. It might not result in wins, and it might not matter, but the timing of it is perfect.

All Engram can do is his job. He cannot control much else. If he keeps doing it well, with Odell out and when the Giants need someone desperately, that says a lot about him.
