It is a great time to be a New York Mets fan, as surprising as that sounds. A reason is that the Mets now do what they say and say what they do.

The New York Mets say what they do and do what they say.

Well you might be wondering what the heck I am talking about. I am glad you asked, because the statement has a lot to do with explaining why it’s a great time to be a Mets fan right now.

Is it not amazing to be saying that? After another year of injuries, underperformance and broken dreams it’s actually fun to be a Mets fan. How?

With all of the moves made, the team is leaps and bounds better than it was.

Think about this, if you had been told the Mets would acquire four All-Stars this offseason, wouldn’t you be having fun?

With the acquisitions of Robinson Cano, Jeurys Familia, Edwin Diaz and now Wilson Ramos, that is exactly what the Mets have done.

Familia was thrilled to be back. So much so that he preferred setting up for Diaz back here in New York than closing for another team.

That shows a team and a franchise that is changing. Under the direction of Brodie Van Wagenen, the Mets are no longer satisfied with being associated with losing.

They are taking action rather than sitting around and waiting for the status quo to improve.

Finally they have added the catcher. Wilson Ramos is set to be the new starting catcher in Queens and he felt very comfortable when meeting with the Mets brass:

"“I felt really comfortable in the room with them,” said Ramos. “They gave me confidence and I felt that, and that was one of the reasons I chose to be with this team.”"

This is a new world for the Mets. Big time players have not wanted to come to New York for a long time, and that is due to the culture of losing. The owners have been associated with Bernie Madoff and having no money to improve.

Enter Brodie Van Wagenen. He is a man with a plan and is executing his plan to a tee. When option A goes away, he quickly pivots to option B. For us Mets fans that aren’t familiar, this is called intelligent and efficient.

So how do we summarize what the difference is now? Let’s let Brodie tell us himself:

"“This action, rather than our inaction, should demonstrate to the fans that we say what we do and we do what we say,” he said. “Today we get to say that Wilson Ramos is the newest member of the New York Mets.”"

That says it. The Mets said they would be aggressive in improving this team and they have been exactly that. They do what they say and they say what they do.

It is a welcomed change and one that should excite each and every member of the fan base.
