Case Keenum

The New York Giants head coach is Pat Shurmur. Shurmur’s name was considered after he helped lead the Vikings to the NFC Championship last season.

Last season, Case Keenum was the Vikings QB.

Keenum then signed with the Broncos, parting ways with Shurmur and it has been nothing short of lackluster.

Not only are the Broncos eliminated from the playoffs, but Keenum has not been terrible, but not excellent either.

He has 15TDs but 12INTs. He has a 6-8 record and just over 3,330 yards.

Keenum is not the worst QB in the league, but he is not the future of any team. He was only brought in on a two-year deal in Denver.

Next year, he is set to cost $21M against the cap. However, he is all too familiar with Pat Shurmur.

Keenum is 30 years old so has a few more years left than Eli, and might be more talented.

The Broncos might not want to move on from Keenum, but if he is only signed for 2019 beyond this year, then it can’t be too hard for the Giants to pry him away.

Keenum could be a perfect one year fix for the Giants at QB in 2019. He can even try to prove himself to get another two years.

The best part about the Keenum option is it would not put the Giants in a bad situation long-term.

They wouldn’t have to give up much for him in a trade and they would not be liable for anything more than one more year of his current deal.

Keenum is not a proven winner in the NFL, at the time of this writing he is 26-26, but in a familiar system as the one he went 11-3 for the 2017 Vikings, he could succeed.

The Giants should pick up the phone and call John Elway because they could use Keenum and would value him now that they are more desperate.
