New York Giants: Current NFL QBs who could start for the Giants in 2019
Joe Flacco
This is perhaps the most obvious name that comes to mind when thinking of potential QBs for the Giants in 2019.
The Ravens already announced that they would move on from Joe Flacco in 2019. Much like Eli, he has seen his better days.
However, Flacco is still wining games. The Ravens were a miracle away from the playoffs last season and led the Ravens for the first half this year to possibly be in this year.
Flacco is expensive, just like Eli is. Flacco is set to have a bigger cap hit than Eli is in 2019.
However, the Ravens know his contract is a liability and offer the Giants more than just Flacco in a trade, perhaps Flacco and more draft picks to help get him off their book.
Flacco is a veteran, but is only 33 years old. Eli is already 37. So, in the NFL, at that age, is a huge tradeoff in terms of skill.
Flacco has only played with one coach his whole career, however, he won a Super Bowl when the Ravens had a great team around him.
Perhaps a change of scenery, and a talented young offensive around him, with an offensive minded coach, can motivate Flacco to have one great year left.
Flacco has never been dubbed ‘elite.’
He has never even been named to a Pro Bowl. However, he has been around a long time.
The best part is he is from New Jersey and went to the University of Delaware. He could return to his home state, play for their biggest team, and help save them.
I would imagine there would be a lot of suitors for Flacco this offseason. There will be plenty of ways for teams to get Flacco.
I know swapping Flacco for Eli does not seem like that much of an upgrade and neither QB could help the Giants three, four years down the road, but Flacco is an upgrade.
The Giants have forced them to be stuck in the win-now mode and Flacco gives them a much better chance than Eli to do so.
