The New York Rangers are off and running on this wonderful 2018-2019 season as they enter their 33rd game sitting at 33 points on the year. What are the biggest takeaways from this season?

The New York Rangers have been some what on a free fall lately. Overall, they have 33 points as they enter a Tuesday nights game, which will be their 33rd of the season.

The Rangers are averaging about a point per game. If they can finish that year slightly above or below that pace, it can be considered a fantastic season.

As we stand, the Rangers are an interesting team. That is putting it bluntly. Earlier in the season, they struggled to close out games.

Then, they began finding ways to win.

They finally beat the New York Islanders earlier this season after a long losing streak against them.

Some other surprising wins the Rangers have include beating the Sharks at home, the Ducks on the road, the Islanders at home, and a nice win in Columbus earlier this season as well.

But, of course, for some solid wins come head scratching losses. They just recently, on December blew a three goal lead at home vs the Coyotes.

They also got destroyed by the Flyers 4-0 on American Thanksgiving weekend. The Flyers are even more of a mess than the Rangers.

Obviously, the NHL season is a grind and losses come and go and just about every way to win or lose will happen.

But, that does not mean these random games, whether encouraging results or not, do not have a trend that you want to see.

The Rangers are technically in the rebuild. They want the youth movement to take over and help propel them to a Cup run down the road.

Yet, their top four scorers are all seasoned NHL vets. So, the youth movement still needs a lot of time to catch up to the older talent.

But, that is as expected. That is normal in the NHL.

So, with that, what else are some takeaways from the Rangers season? There are plenty of trends outside of the results.

Here are three!
